This weekend at The Emerald Coast Dragway… Friday Frenzy, Saturday Drifting & the brief return of Sunday Funday!

Friday Frenzy 9.28.2018, will be 5-11PM Friday Night, with the track going “hot” at 6PM, come one come all!

Saturday 9.29.2018, the North Florida Drift Federation will be hosting the Half Price Drifting & Car Meet.  4PM-9PM, 10 minutes before the course goes “hot” at 5PM.  $10 gets you in the gate, $20 gets you on the track drifting til your hearts content or your tires are spent, whatever comes first!

Sunday Funday 9.30.2018

This weekend we’ll see the brief return of the favored Sunday Funday, not to be run again until our schedule (and hopefully cooler afternoon temperatures) allow, starting regularly October 26th and we’ll run it as far into 2019 as spring temperatures allow. Gates open at 12PM, track hot by 1PM and stays hot until 6PM. Cost is the same as our Friday Frenzy’s at $25 car & driver or $15 crew & spectators, kids 12 & under free as always.

Those wanting to T&T, pro tire only please (drag radial or slick tire only, no hard tires), cost is $40 car & driver, you’ll have open access at the track 4-645PM, afterwards we’ll call you to the lanes after 6.50 after every round of eliminations.

South Coast Heads Up series on deck at the Emerald Coast Dragway this weekend! 5 classes of guaranteed payouts heads up N/T street cars along with pro tire test & tune on a radial/small tire friendly racing surface! These cars are fighting not only for over $10k worth of purse money but also series points and bragging rights! The boards wont be lit up but you wont have to count past 4 for most of these cars if you’re trying to figure out how fast they are…


The classes listed below (click on link for class rules) will be running for points with the South Coast Heads Up Series. However each individual event may have other classes to run on race day, see event flyers for details.

28 Extreme (28X) $4000 guaranteed purse, $150 car & driver entry.

6.50 Index (6.50) $3000 guaranteed purse, $125 car & driver entry.

5.70 Real Street $3000 guaranteed purse, $100 car & driver entry – brought to you by the 570 Real Street Racing Association.

Small Block Nitrous (SBNX) $2000 guaranteed purse, $100 car & driver entry.

True Street $1000 guaranteed purse, $50 car & driver entry.

Pro Tire Test & Tune / Grudge = $40 Car & Driver


All drivers who compete at SCHU sanctioned events in 28X/SBNX/6.50 will be automatically entered in the points chase. The vehicle (and the driver) being entered must be on premises. The same vehicle cannot be used for points (or competition) by more than one driver in the same class. Points are awarded to a driver in the class, not the vehicle.

  1. 10 points will be awarded for entering each points event. Entering a points event is defined as passing tech inspection with a vehicle (appropriate for the class entered) on the day of the event and turning in the tech card to the tower before the first round of eliminations.
  2. 10 points will be awarded to the winner of each round of elimination.
  3. 5 bonus points will be awarded to the event winner, 3 bonus points awarded to runner up and 1 bonus point to each semi-finalist.


An outstanding weekend of racing in the books with the first annual Hardway SunShine Showdown, the 5th stop so far on the 2018 Outlaw Diesel Super Series national tour, event champions were crowned and records were set and reset 4 times over in the Outlaw Diesel Pro Mod category! Major thanks to all racers, event sponsors and crew/spectators that made the weekend possible, we’re already looking at dates for next year!

Outlaw Diesel Pro Mod competitor Ben Shadday in his Cummins powered ram truck reset his previous class record of 4.71@155 in Friday nights pro qualifying session with a 4.68 at 150 on an early shutdown, little did we know this number would be pushed 3 more times before the end of the weekend!

All said and done, #1 qualifier and Pro Mod class winner Larson Miller, pilot of the Firepunk “Save the Racks” Cummins powered S10 pickup (pictured above) buried the class record down a 4.47@167mph.  Ben Shadday’s 4.68 in qualifying set the tone, then Millers 4.64 in qualifying, a 4.55 in eliminations then the 4.47 drove the nail in the coffin!
