“There is an EXTREME Threat of flooding from Saturday through Tuesday along our coastal counties with widespread areas of flash flooding possible. Rainfall amounts of 6-12 inches are possible with localized higher amounts.” -NWS Mobile Thursday AM
We’re calling it now before anyone wastes too much time on travel plans. Even if it turns out to be 70*F and sunny all weekend, forecasts like this all week have demolished any sort of turnout on a minimum car count race. We were really looking forward to this format and will definitely try to get it in sometime later in the year. We’ll try to run Friday Frenzy weather permitting but the Memorial $5K’s have been called off. Thanks guys for your continued support and we look forward to racing with you all in the future! -RM
Tyler Lee Racing is a force to be reckoned with at the Emerald Coast Dragway, his big tire 1967 Chevy II seems to be winning nearly everything it enters lately! Tyler Lee took the W in the finals against Harmon Ferguson in the first ever running of the Door Slammer class here at ECD after going. Lee went #1 qualifier in the first round of qualifying, brought it back around for 2nd round to try and better his ET, although he didn’t go any faster in 2nd round and stayed on top all the way to the end. Congrats to Tyler Lee Racing and as always we appreciate your continued support of the Emerald Coast Dragway!
Not only did Jason Collins go #1 qualifier at this race but he also showed up as the reigning points leader AND took the win tonight! Jason Collins 4.02 over Keith Bakers tire shaking 4.58 pass in the finals was enough to walk away with the trophy, the cash and the points!
Even though this weekend is an SNRA Nitrous Pro Mod weekend, our hometown boys were itching to get out and do some racing this weekend at their favorite track, come watch Mike and Michael Neal, father/son duo duke it out against each other in some heads up blower on blower grudge racing! This Saturday May 19th at the Emerald Coast Dragway…
May 19 2018 – Southern Nitrous Racer Association Pro Mods will be in town along with the staging lanes packed full of heads up racing action, proceeds to benefit the Harrell family.
An auto accident involving an impaired driver hitting 4 members of our ECD team head on has resulted in the loss of 17yr old Sidney Michaela Dowdy and her sister 7yr old Stormie Harrell. Not only were these girls regulars at the track but they are the children of Matt (and Melanie) Harrell whom you may know as the loud guy with the head set on often found in the front of the staging lanes and the sisters of Devon Harrell whom you may know as the guy on the starting line flipping the starter switch for you and putting out the flames when your car decides to catch on fire. While these girls had health insurance through both parents jobs, they did not have life insurance.
The Emerald Coast Dragway will donate 50% of Saturday’s proceeds after race purse payout and expenses to the family.
East River Smoke House has donated 1000 BBQ sandwich plates with 100% of the proceeds going to the family.
Hobbie Lee has donated 100% of proceeds from photo sales for the weekend to the family.
Support is pouring in like crazy… $15 Friday, $20 Saturday, $30 for a weekend pass, kids 12 & under in free. Gates at 4pm on Friday, 10am Saturday, weekend camping is welcome with a weekend pass. Lets pack the house and make sure this racing family has one less thing to worry about!
